We are looking for a layout artist / cinematic artist to help create fantastic game cinematics projects, starting immediately.

About Us:

metricminds is specialized in the creation of in-engine cutscenes for game developers. We use Unreal Engine and other engines and work directly with the tools and assets of our clients. Our studio is located in Frankfurt, Germany and was founded in 2001. Our clients include 2K Games, EA, Epic, Guerrilla Games, THQ Nordic and more.

Objective:

Using our clients’ assets and taking their creative brief (script, storyboard, etc.), you will work with our team to create stunning and enticing cutscenes and trailers for AAA games. You will start by blocking out scenes, recording or bringing in mocap and then iterating your way through to the final, polished cutscene layout. We are putting a strong focus on storytelling while keeping our clients’ objectives for each cutscene in mind.

Responsibilities:
  • Help drive the development of AAA quality cinematics / cutscenes
  • Design and create shots from Scripts and / or Storyboards, using cinematic know-how and language to tell a story
  • Block out rough sequences which will later receive animation of characters, props and cameras
  • Use real-life camera behavior to enhance the camera’s role in story telling
  • Work with a director and a team of artists to create high quality video sequences on tight timelines
Requirements:
  • minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field
  • Experience using Motion Capture to tell a story and an inherent understanding of animation timing
  • Understanding of shot composition, framing, cinematography, editing, and flow
  • Very good skills in camera placement and animation
  • Good showreel showcasing animated works you have done
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Sport a Problem-solving attitude
  • Willing to relocate to Frankfurt, Germany
  • Good English Speaking Skills

We are looking for a contract animator to help us out on a fantastic AAA game cinematics project, which is based on a popular IP. The project will last between 12 and 14 months. Full time position is also possible.

Objective:

You will animate characters using motion capture and keyframe animation techniques to help the team tell larger than life stories in high-end realtime game cinematics.

Responsibilities:
  • Help drive the development of AAA quality cinematics / cutscenes
  • Animate characters, vehicles and props using motion capture and keyframe animation techniques
  • Block out rough sequences which will later receive animation of characters, props and cameras
  • Work with a director and/or supervisor, as well as a team of fellow animators to create high quality animation sequences on tight timelines
Requirements:
  • minimum 3 years of professional experience in animation
  • Proven key frame expertise and practiced skills
  • Experience working with motion capture data
  • Good showreel showcasing animated works you have done
  • Able to work well in a team and to lead others
  • Sport a Problem-solving attitude

We are looking for Junior Motion Capture Artists to work with us in the creation of high-quality animations in multiple upcoming projects.

Objective:

Using our client’s assets and keeping their project goals in mind, you will pro-actively help our team to bring characters and entire scenes to life. You will work on data post-processing first, and then join us on the capture stage to record everything from character locomotion to full-performance capture or even fully developed scenes including multiple actors and custom-built environment recreations and props.

Responsibilities:
  • Create motion captured animation content for a variety of clients and projects, ranging from indy projects up to AAA games
  • CleanUp and post-production of captured animations, using our custom workflows
  • Capture actor performances on our mocap stage
  • Maintain and improve our capture system and software tools / workflows
  • Work closely with our team to create high-quality animations on tight timelines
Requirements:

Do you know animation?

Can you supervise and properly handle bringing animated content (characters, face, cameras and other objects) from Motionbuilder/Maya into the Unreal Engine (Sequencer) and possibly also export them back as an animation workflow step?

Do you possess good inter-personal and communication skills and do you have an ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team?
