From the creators of Dead Island this new, critically acclaimed, AAA zombie infested game will be a great addition to the interactive zombie survivor genre loved by fans worldwide. We are extremely happy about being able to contribute a big part to the creation of the narrative this game has to offer. Our main duty was to create eight in-game cutscenes from script to final animation.

In this process we started with the script and directed the scene with a new approach we call “real footage”. For real footage, we re-enacted the scene on our own and recorded it to give Techland a first glimpse at how the scene plays out with all the dramatic impact needed. While all scenes are in first person we were dealing with one long sequence for each cutscene, which needed to be planned out in every tiny detail.
After approval of this step, we performed a full body motion capture session to record the complete scene with actors. The motion capture data was cleaned up and solved to the corresponding characters. These results were used to set up the animation scene in which everything was virutally staged according to the director’s intention. Then the scene was passed over to the hands of our talented animators. The following polishing pass produced the final animation scene which was sent over to Techland for engine implementation and the facial animation pass.
